Speaking after the 1-0 win over Getafe, Barcelona defender Jules Kounde praised manager Hansi Flick, hailing him as ‘world-class’ while adding that the team was having fun playing under the German tactician.
A first-half strike from Robert Lewandowski was enough for Barcelona to bag all three points in Montjuic last night.
Kounde, for his part, put up a brilliant display at right-back against Getafe and continued his brilliant start to the season, earning praise from the manager.
Paying back the compliments, the French international hailed Flick, saying (h/t Fabrizio Romano):
“We can see since day one that Hansi Flick is a world-class coach. We as players are enjoying the training sessions and the matches under Flick, for sure.”
Barcelona had been scoring for fun in their last few matches, but managed to find the back of the net just once against Getafe.
“Sometimes it happens, you can’t always win with a big goal difference. The important thing is that we created chances again and took another three points, as Getafe are always a difficult team to handle,” Kounde confessed (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
On being asked if the team had been made to suffer by Jose Bordalas’ side, he added:
“I don’t know if they suffered, apart from the last ten or five minutes, which is normal when you only win 1-0 and the opposition sees it as possible and pushes a bit harder.
“But we played a good game, we controlled the game and we had chances to score more, although today we didn’t get it right.”
Discussing Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s long-term injury, Kounde remarked: “It’s a shame about Marc’s injury, he’s going to be out for a long time, but we’re going to do what we have to do and Marc will always be with us.”
On Barcelona’s exceptional start to the season, with seven wins in seven games, the French international said:
“We feel good, we want to win every game, we are very well prepared before the games and we analyse our opponents very well. The team is enjoying it and understanding it very well, it’s a pleasure.”
