Barcelona not setting a date for €90m-rated sensation’s comeback despite optimism about recovery

Having spent ten months out on the sidelines due to an ACL injury, Barcelona midfield sensation, Gavi, is closing in on a return.

Indeed, as reported earlier today, the 20-year-old La Masia graduate has entered the final phase of his recovery and could soon start doing parts of group training with the squad under Hansi Flick.

No return date set

But, despite the optimism and good feelings surrounding his recovery, MARCA reports that Barcelona are not setting a return date for Gavi as of yet.

The midfielder is working at a high level of intensity, is coping well with the workload and has even been working with a football since July.

As such, the Spanish prodigy’s return is getting closer and closer, but the club, despite the optimism they have in his case, are still cautious about his comeback. They will not force his return.

Gavi’s personality and physique are allowing him to make good progress in his rehabilitation. The 20-year-old is strictly following the path set by the club’s medical staff and is going through the scheduled stages of his recovery in a more than satisfactory manner.

Gavi’s good progress means that the club are optimistic about his return, but no one at the club dares to predict a precise date for his return, despite the midfielder’s desire to be at Hansi Flick’s disposal as soon as possible.

Given the nature and severity of the injury, it makes sense for Barcelona to err on the side of caution, more so considering how important a player Gavi is.

So, while it is great news that his recovery is progressing well, the 20-year-old should only return when he is fully fit and ready to go.
