Hansi Flick has a new plan with Lewandowski – and it is working

Hansi Flick’s arrival at Barcelona marked a new chapter not only for the club but also for Robert Lewandowski, who is entering his third season at the club.

Flick has previously worked with Lewandowski to great success at Bayern Munich. Lewandowski was an ever-present figure in Flick’s system during their time at Bayern.

Flick’s strategy with Lewandowski

As reported by Diario SPORT, Lewandowski, 36, is now being strategically substituted to preserve his energy for crucial moments later in the season.

While it may have surprised some when Lewandowski was substituted 20 minutes before the final whistle against Valladolid, it is part of a broader plan that Flick and Lewandowski have carefully crafted.

Despite their excellent relationship, which was built on their shared glory at Bayern, Flick is keenly aware that he must balance the forward’s playing time.

He wants Lewandowski to stay fresh, so he is ready to make a difference when it matters most.

The Polish striker has been enthusiastic about the club’s ambition to improve physical fitness levels across the squad, a priority that aligns with his own professional ethos.

Lewandowski has already shown his determination, netting four goals in four games, and he is confident that this strategy will allow him to score more than he did last year.

Flick, understanding Lewandowski’s ambition and desire to play, has promised to manage his minutes to ensure he stays at peak performance throughout the season.

While Lewandowski will still be a key figure in most matches, there will be times when he is rested strategically.

In Ferran Torres and Pau Victor, Flick has a couple of alternatives, who are more than able to replace Lewandowski whenever it is necessary.
