Chelsea have confirmed striker Nicolas Jackson has signed a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old has faced plenty of criticism from rival fans but Chelsea have long remained committed to Jackson, who scored 14 goals in his first Premier League season and has two strikes from his first three games under Enzo Maresca.

His initial deal took him through to 2031, but Jackson has now signed on until 2033 with an improved salary as a reward for his impressive form.

"I am feeling very good and am very happy to sign a new contract and stay at the club," Jackson said.

"It feels great the club has confidence in me. I am working very hard. I am very happy to extend my contract and stay here for many years."

Despite tying Jackson down to fresh terms, Chelsea are believed to remain in the market for a new striker and retain their interest in Napoli's Victor Osimhen, who was the subject of tense negotiations until the final moments of the summer transfer window.

Osimhen ultimately joined Turkish side Galatasaray on a season-long loan which includes a break clause for the January transfer window, before which Chelsea will decide whether to reignite their pursuit.
