Barcelona fans witnessed a great deal of bonhomie between Pedri and Hansi Flick, in the club’s most recent 4-1 win over Girona.
After scoring Barcelona’s fourth goal, Pedri dedicated the goal to Flick. Speaking after the game, the midfielder heaped praise on the German for helping him get through tough times.
This was not the first time Pedri spoke openly about the impact Flick has had since joining Barcelona. Earlier in the summer, the midfielder openly stated how Barcelona how harder under the German tactician.
Pedri also stated he feels ‘more liberated’ under Flick. “I feel liberated. I think Flick has also conveyed that to me, to play without pressure, to do what I know how to do and I feel much more relaxed,” he said.
Xavi hurt by Pedri’s statements
Pedri’s statements, though, have not gone down well with Xavi Hernandez, who feels hurt by the midfielder’s recent statements, reports Diario SPORT.
As per the report, Xavi is hurt by Pedri’s statements about the physical aspect with Flick and believes that his statement and the statements of the rest of his colleagues were motivated by someone with influence in the club.
Xavi and his entourage believe that Pedri was deceived by false things, including that the former manager wanted to sell him, and they accuse Alejandro Echevarria, Laporta’s main advisor, of doing so.
It is no secret that Xavi’s spell at Barcelona did not end on good terms, with the Spaniard falling out with the top brass during the final few months of his spell.
The manager, throughout his spell at Barcelona, had nothing but good to say about Pedri and always insisted that the team was different with and without the midfielder.
So the idea that Xavi wanted to sell Pedro does come off as strange.
As such, his camp suspect Echevarria and the club’s influence in this matter. It will be interesting to see if Laporta or someone from the club responds to the allegations.
