- Chelsea duo Cole Palmer and Enzo Maresca claim Premier League awards for September
- Palmer scored five goals and assisted another in excellent month for Blues
- Maresca claims MOTM award for the first time
Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for September, while Blues boss Enzo Maresca has won the manager's prize.
Palmer scooped the award after a memorable month which included his incredible four-goal haul in 21 minutes against Brighton & Hove Albion, becoming the first player in the league's history to net four times in the first half of a match.
The England international also grabbed an assist in the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace and scored in the 3-0 win at West Ham United, leading the division for goal involvements in September. Palmer previously won the Premier League's Goal of the Month prize in August for his wonderful lob in the 6-2 demolition of Wolves.
Harvey Barnes, Luis Diaz, Gabriel Magalhaes, Ryan Gravenberch, Raul Jimenez, Dwight McNeil and Ollie Watkins had been nominated for the POTM award, but instead Palmer claimed it for the second time since joining Chelsea after his immaculate April earlier this year.
It's another gong in the space of a week for Palmer, who picked up England's 2023/24 Player of the Year prize on Wednesday before their shock 2-1 defeat to Greece a day later.
Maresca, meanwhile, swatted aside competition from Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery, Marco Silva and Arne Slot to win the manager's trophy for the first time after leading Chelsea to an unbeaten month with three wins and one draw.
He told the Premier League's website: "We had a very good month. We all need people around us to make things better. I'm very grateful to have all of them [his staff].
"We are always looking at new things and how we can improve from different football and different countries."
Maresca is the second winner of the MOTM award this season, with Brighton's Fabian Hurzeler taking the award in August.
