Lamine Yamal’s accomplishments over the past year make him a clear favourite to take home the Golden Boy award later this year, but it is clear at this point that his competition is not with other player his age but with Europe’s elite.
At just 17 years of age, the youngster has been selected as La Liga’s Player of the Month for September and has already established himself as one of the best in the business.
Such is his greatness at this point that opposition players and managers have come to accept the fact that they will largely be helpless against him on the field.
Rudiger praises Yamal
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger had serious words of praise for Barcelona’s young sensation Yamal and credited him for his flabbergasting achievements at a young age.
️”What Lamine Yamal is doing is ridiculous, you have to give him credit. He plays for Barcelona at the age of 17, what he did at the EURO.”
He also wished the player the best in the future and insisted that good fitness would take him places.
“I hope he stays healthy, he has a brilliant future. It’s pretty scary what he’s doing.”
Needless to say, this comes as massive praise for the young phenom especially considering that it is coming from one of the mainstays of the team’s arch-rivals.
Concurrently, it is indeed very sporting of the Real Madrid player to concede Yamal’s quality and openly praise him for the same.
Rudiger and Yamal will cross paths later this month in the first Clasico of the season and while both players are in good shape, the teenage phenom is quite clearly enjoying the better spell at the moment. A fascinating clash awaits at Santiago Bernabeu.
