Thomas Frank has admitted that taking the Manchester United job will "probably not make his life better" amid recent links.

The Brentford manager has been heavily linked with replacing Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford following United's surprisingly poor beginning to the 2024/25 season.

Ten Hag did enjoy a reprieve over the weekend however, by beating Frank's Brentford 2-1 at Old Trafford despite heading into half-time trailing by a controversial goal.

Speaking in an interview on The Sports Agents podcast, Frank was asked about potentially taking over at a top club like Manchester United and how it would affect him.

"For sure if I ever got the offer to go to a big club and I decided to go there, it would probably not make my life better," the Danish coach said.

"I think we all know that. Maybe it is a challenge you need to try. I don’t know. It is not something I am thinking about. I have sacrificed a lot throughout my life to reach where I am now. In terms of sacrificing, I missed my children’s birthdays for five years in a row because I was with the national team.

"I have been working 60, 70 hours a week for the last 30 years. I have sacrificed a lot of things. You don't know how it would be if you walked into another job."

Along with Frank, former England manager Gareth Southgate as well as the club's assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy have both also been linked with taking charge at Old Trafford. There was also prolonged links with Thomas Tuchel until the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss was named Southgate's permanent successor with the Three Lions.
