Ruben Amorim will hold his first press conference as Manchester United head coach on Friday afternoon when he faces the media ahead of his debut in the dugout.

The 39-year-old was appointed as Erik ten Hag's successor at the start of November but remained with Sporting CP until the international break, with Ruud van Nistelrooy winning three of his four matches as interim manager.

Amorim has already been seen drilling his principles into the Red Devils squad during training and will lead out his new team out for the first time on Sunday when they visit Ipswich Town in the Premier League.

Firstly, however, he will meet with the press from roughly 14:00 GMT for what is likely to be a discussion covering a wide range of topics involving his arrival as United's new head coach.

The former Portugal international has already spoken of his desire to bring glory back to Old Trafford, which has been the grim scene for one too many hellish days for the club in recent years.

Amorim will likely be asked about his mission of improving United's current league standing of 13th ahead of the weekend, while there is also a lot of hype around the change in system he will affect.

His Sporting team generally played with three central defenders and wing-backs, which would be a departure from the 4-2-3-1 formation Ten Hag tried to put in place in a little over two seasons.

There could be some interesting roles for certain United players when they face Ipswich, who earned their first win of the season before the international break with a 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Amorim has inherited an injury-riddled squad and could be without some big names, though there has been encouraging progress in the fitness department over the last few weeks.

There is hope summer signing Leny Yoro could be available to make his first competitive appearance for United after recovering from a foot problem, while left-back Luke Shaw returned to first-team training earlier this month, having suffered a calf blow in pre-season.
