- Barcelona pleaded with court to grant extension to Olmo's registration
- Midfielder believed to be available on free transfer if Barcelona miss registration deadline
- Olmo's agent spotted in Manchester
A court have rejected Barcelona's plea to extend Dani Olmo's registration until the end of the season, giving the La Liga side just four days to find a solution before the midfielder's current registration expires.
Barcelona were unable to register Olmo, or academy graduate Pau Victor, when both joined the senior squad during the summer until Andreas Christensen went down with a serious injury that gifted Barca the freedom to temporarily register Olmo in his place.
Olmo's current registration expires on December 31 and Barca are not believed to be in the financial position needed to re-register the Spain international, prompting them to take La Liga to court to plead for a change to the rules.
According to SPORT, the judge has ruled against Barca, rejecting the club's claim that La Liga's regulations should not stand because those in charge are "incompetent".
Barca had hoped for a repeat of the legal success that saw them able to register Gavi in January 2023, but this time around, La Liga actually put up a fight and have managed to convince the judge to rule against the Blaugrana.
It means Olmo, unless something changes before the January transfer window, will not be registered when the second half of the season begins - a major concern for Barcelona as he is believed to have a clause in his contract which allows him to leave for free if he is not registered.
Clubs are reportedly beginning to circle around Olmo and the Daily Mail recently revealed that the 26-year-old's agent has travelled to Manchester, sparking suggestions of talks with either Manchester City or Manchester United.
"Yes, it is correct I am in Manchester," agent Andy Bara said. "I am here on holidays."
