Former England and Manchester City captain Steph Houghton has been named as one of four new inductees to be inducted into the WSL Hall of Fame.

Houghton was at Arsenal when the WSL era began in 2011 a few years into her career, winning back-to-back titles in the first two seasons of the new league, alongside, two Women’s FA Cups and three Women's League Cups. She then made the move north to sign for Manchester City in 2014, becoming a club legend over a decade at the Eithad Campus.

The centre-back wore the armband for City during her tenure, captaining her side to three Women's League Cups, three Women's FA Cups, as well as the WSL title in 2016. Houghton remains City's most decorated player, winning seven major trophies throughout her stay.

Houghton may have left professional football behind when she hung up her boots at the end of the 2023/24 season, but she her legacy is strong. Now, the 36-year-old has stepped into broadcasting, becoming a regular pundit across both BBC and Sky Sports in the women's and men's game.

Houghton and her fellow inductees, including former England teammate Alex Scott, are set to be honoured at an official induction event in January 2025. Ex-Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham United and Liverpool defender Gill Flaherty, and referee Rebecca Welch have also been inducted.
