- Dele Alli has been offered the chance to train with Cesc Fabregas' Como side
- The former Tottenham midfielder has not made a competitive appearance in almost two years
- Fabregas played against Dele during his time at Chelsea
Dele Alli has been offered the chance to train with Cesc Fabregas' Como side in a bid to revive his career.
The ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder who boasts 37 England caps came to the end of his contract at Everton over the summer. Dele was last spotted in competitive action for Turkish side Besiktas and has not made a professional appearance since February 2023.
A prodigious talent for club and country, Dele has openly discussed the various traumas that he has suffered throughout his life. Persistent injuries have contributed to what the midfielder has described as "a bad cycle", yet at just 28, there is plenty of time for Dele to return to a professional setting.
Counterintuitively, an Arsenal legend may offer the former Spurs star a route back to the top.
Dele was in attendance for Como's 2-0 victory at home to Roma on Sunday and Fabregas revealed that he would be welcome at the club's training ground. "He could train with us after Christmas to find his form," the former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder told reporters on Monday.
Fabregas had moved back to his boyhood club Barcelona by the time Dele broke into Tottenham's first team, but the pair came up against one another after the Spain international joined Chelsea in 2014. Across four head-to-head meetings, Dele managed to rack up five goals against teams including Fabregas.
Como could do with some more potency and are home to several experienced professionals already. The former Liverpool duo of Pepe Reina (42) and Alberto Moreno (32) operate at the foot of the Alps, while the former AC Milan and Wolves misfit Patrick Cutrone is the only member of the squad with more than two league goals this season.
